Our Engineering study programmes enable you to choose an area to specialise in and you will gain transferable skills, such as problem solving and project management, making you particularly attractive to potential employers. We have excellent links with industry, working with high technology companies such as Vauxhall, Lockheed Martin and Millbrook Proving Ground, so you will always be up to date with industry changes and developments – something that employers will be looking for.

Why choose us?

Our new £4.5 million Advanced Engineering Centre is currently taking shape and will house newer, lighter, analytical equipment, BIM Software and robotics to enable you to move through to the higher level training essential in today’s manufacturing and civil engineering markets.

We have a wide range of engineering courses designed to equip you with a broad base of engineering skills, as well as knowledge and experience of the sector. You can specialise in electrical and electronic or mechanical engineering and there are also apprenticeships available.

Depending on your specialist area, topics you will cover could include radio communications, microcontrollers, analogue and digital electronics, CAD, electronic circuits and wiring, gas turbine engines and aircraft maintenance.

Industry standard equipment
We have fully equipped engineering and aerospace workshops. The aerospace workshop features a real aeroplane and fuselage for students to work on, while the engineering workshops are full of industry tools and the latest in computer aided design (CAD) software.

Earn and learn
Many of our courses give you the opportunity to become a fully-accredited engineer and are flexible to enable you to gain experience in a working environment while you study.

Excellent links with industry
The department works with high technology companies such as Lola, Lockheed Martin and Marshall Aerospace. Apprentices enrolled onto HNC/HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering are employed by local and national engineering firms with whom the College maintains an excellent training relationship, including Danfoss Randall and Network Rail.
