FAQS

We understand that it can be daunting  joining a new college so here are some other points that you may have questions about.

» Do I have to pay anything when I enrol?

If you are aged 16 to 18 at the start of your course you do not have to pay any tuition fees. If you are aged 19 or over and are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course you will either need to pay course fees* with the assistance of an Advanced Learner Loan (19+ Loan), via a sponsor/employer or by paying the fees yourself. You will need to provide evidence of any loan entitlement, employer support or your own bank details during enrolment. We can set-up a payment plan if you prefer to pay in instalments. *If you are aged between 19 and 23 inclusive, enrolling onto a Level 3 course and you don’t already hold a full Level 3 qualification you may not have to pay course fees.

» How do I apply for financial support?

(e.g. bus passes, free meals, childcare, etc) Depending on your circumstances you may be able to claim for financial support to help with the costs of coming to College.

The easiest way to check if you qualify for financial support is to use our online Eligibility Checker: www.bedford.ac.uk/eligibility If you are eligible an ‘Apply Here’ button will appear for you to complete a financial support application. You will need to provide details about the course you want to study, your bank account details and evidence of any household income.

Don’t worry if you have trouble with the form. Either give us a call on 01234 291000 or pop along to see us and we will be happy to help and talk you through it.

» Are there any extra costs associated with my course?

Details about any costs for equipment, uniforms, trips/visits etc. and how to pay will have been      discussed with you during your interview or Welcome Day. If there are any costs associated with your course you will also have received an email detailing any such costs and advising when you need to pay these.

» My employer is paying my course fees, what do I need to bring?

So that we can complete your enrolment we will need a letter on company headed paper stating the amount to be paid and the address to be invoiced and/or a purchase order number.
