Pesticide Application (PA6A): Hand Held Applicators NPTC Level 2 Award

This one-day course will enable you to achieve the legally required qualification for the Control of Pesticide Regulations (COPR) and is designed for anyone applying pesticides on a commercial basis. Training covers all the topics associated with applying pesticides from pedestrian operated equipment.and is delivered by one of Shuttleworth’s qualified instructors at the Shuttleworth College campus. If you just need a refresher please contact the sales team for further details.

NPTC

Entry requirements

You can begin this course ONLY if you have already completed the Pesticide Application (PA1): Safe Use of Pesticides NPTC Level 2 Award which is a pre-requisite.

Course content

You will study the following topics:

  • Preparation of spray equipment
  • Applicator calibration
  • Record keeping
  • Operating techniques and safe application
  • Post-spraying procedures

Assessment methods

The assessment for this NPTC course normally takes place within 14 days of the initial training.  The assessment cost is included in the course fee. You will receive an NPTC Certificate of Competence.

Qualifications

Pesticide Application : Hand Held Applicators NPTC Level 2 Award (PA6A)
Further study and career options

The qualification gained from completing this course will be beneficial for your career if you work in the agriculture and horticulture industries, or if you are self-employed in such a role as gardener or groundskeeper.

PA6AW : Safe Application of Pesticides to or Near Water, can be included at the end of this course.  Please let our team know at the point of booking if you require this additional qualification. 

You can also study Pesticide Application (PA2): Ground Crop Sprayer NPTC Level 2 Award,and Pesticide Application : Pelleted or Granular Pesticides – Mounted or Trailed Applications (Units S or G) NPTC Level 2 Award (PA4)


Additional information

To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. You can also view the PPE and tools list here. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.
