Agricultural Tractor Driving & Related Operations Level 2 Award

This qualification covers safe driving of a tractor in a range of situations, pre-use maintenance, safety checks and recognition of controls and instruments.

NPTC

Entry requirements

The minimum age limit for candidates taking this qualification is 16 years.

Course content

You will study the following topics:

  • Preparation and maintenance
  • Safe procedures and observation
  • Safe driving and handling of the tractor
  • Hitching/manoeuvring with trailed implements
  • Hitching/manoeuvring with mounted implements
  • Operating a loader.

Assessment methods

The assessment will normally take place within 14 days of the training and covers the use of the tractor in a range of situations: driving safely and correctly around a suitable course (including reversing with a trailer), trailer hitching, attaching 3-point linkage and Power Take Off (PTO) driven attachments.

Additional information

To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. You can also view the PPE and tools list here. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.

Pay by instalments

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
